Just in Case (JIC) was born in 2021 when three friends decided to take the plunge and get out of their comfort zones.

Just in Case combines Francesco’s years of experience in tourism and public relations with the organizational and managerial nous of Valeria, topped off with Cristina’s deep knowledge of history and culture.

Valeria Franceschini

Hi, I’m Valeria. I was born and raised in La Spezia, a splendid city of the Italian Riviera which gifted me a deep connection with the sea, summer, and focaccia.

But for more than ten years now I have been under the spell of Tuscany, the land of my ancestors, with its unparalleled sincerity and beauty.

I have more than a decade of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, where I have refined my natural talent for organization and attention to detail. I am responsible, precise, understanding, and always willing to help.

There are many things I still want to experience, and many dreams still to realise, but… “time is relative: its only worth depends on what we do while it is passing” (Albert Einstein).

Cristina Alù

Hi, I’m Cristina, born a Sicilian but adopted as a Tuscan. I have always felt a strong connection with distant epochs and places, which drew me to study the history of ancient civilisations.

I am a professional researcher in the field of Egyptology, but don’t think that I am just a topo di biblioteca (‘library mouse’!). I love working as part of a team, making new connections, and sharing new experiences with those around me.

For more than 10 years I have been involved in the promotion and dissemination of travel culture.

I am a flexible person who is not afraid of change. In fact, I take my motto from Nathan W. Morris: “Edit your life frequently and ruthlessly. It’s your masterpiece after all”.

Francesco Mugnaini

Hi, I’m Francesco and when they used to ask me, “what do you want to do when you grow up?”, I always replied, “I want to know everyone in the world!”.

I was born in a small town of just 1000 souls in the north of Tuscany. Since then I’ve lived on almost every continent in the world.

I’ve been enriched by my all my travels: they made me who I am today. I’ve worked as a taxi driver in the city of Lucca since 2019, but this is only one of many different jobs that I’ve done in my life. The thing they had in common? Contact with new people.

I am outgoing, determined, creative, and, above all, an incurable optimist. The phrase that best encapsulates me? “No worries!”.
